Music Mood Board: Songs to Kick Off the New Year With Hope, Gratitude, and Confidence

It feels like I've been wearily dragging myself to 2020's finish line all December long, and I'm sure you can relate. I don't even need to tell you how trying this year has been, but one of my strongest - and, admittedly, sometimes most frustrating - qualities is my ability to remain hopeful, no matter what. So that's how I'm choosing to arrive in 2021: full of expectancy and anticipation. That isn't to say I'm turning a blind eye to the very real issues our world is still facing and will continue to endure. I'm just dedicating more of my energy to protecting the peace that I continuously fought to regain and maintain throughout the year. So, with that in mind, I now present the songs that I'll be blasting into the new year.

Blue Ivy Carter is clearly following in her parents' footsteps . On Dec. 19, the 9-year-old won big at the 2021 Voice Arts Awards, snagging best voice-over of a children's audiobook for narrating Matthew A. Cherry's Hair Love . Cherry originally created Hair Love as a short film, and the Oscar-winning short was later turned into a book also written by the filmmaker (it's also in the process of becoming a TV series ). At this point, Blue is eyeing superstar status with yet another award added to her repertoire. Her grandmother Tina Knowles congratulated her with an Instagram post: "Congrats my Blue. You killed this!! It's only the beginning ! You are so talented ! Grandma is beyond proud!!!" Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim have reportedly called it quits , People reports. According to the publication, the Selling Sunset stars recently broke up, five months after going public with their romance . Jason and Chrishell confirmed their relationship over the summer by sharing photos of their Italian vacation on Instagram. "The JLo effect," Chrishell captioned the snaps. Meanwhile, Jason told People at the time that he and Chrishell were "close friends" before their friendship blossomed into "an amazing relationship." He added, "I care about her deeply and we're very happy together."
